Tejido’s banig painting collection utilizes the pandan species (Pandanus tectorius), chosen for its prominent use for traditional Filipino household items like mats, bags or hats. Wherever in the world, Filipinos can easily distinguish this weave pattern that is neither too coarse nor too thick to dominate the subject, harnessing its potential as a fine art canvas
