Jomike Tejido (Joe-Mike Teh-ee-doh) has been a comic artist for the daily papers, a television host for a children's art show and an architect until he decided that writing and illustrating children's books is the best thing ever.
Jomike started illustrating for kid lit since he was in high school, when he had the opportunity to illustrate short stories and write poetry for a weekly magazine, Junior Inquirer. He started writing books in 2002 when he felt he wanted to draw themes he loved, like insects, animals, robots and dinosaurs. Jomike's self-taught journey in book writing and illustration made him explore various media from 3D clay art, watercolors, acrylics, collage and mixed media that led to over 100 children's book publications since his first book in 2001.  Jomike has now settled with using a Wacom Cintiq tablet monitor and an IPad Pro for his digitally-illustrated picture books.
When Jomike is not making books, he builds kinetic sculptures and paints on canvas and has held 13 solo exhibitions, the latest of which was "By the Light of the Moon," which was inspired by video game concept art but rendered in mid-century modern forms. He is based in Manila, Philippines with his wife and his two daughters, a huge chow-chow named Oso and three lovebirds named King Emerald, Queen Frost and Skipper.
